Family Recovery
Staff Teachers
It's hard to believe that 6½ years ago we knew nothing about Family Recovery. I don't believe that either one of us wanted our family to “recover”. Divorce was the only answer at that time. We had lived for over 20 years in the total dysfunction of addiction and its effects.
In 2005, we went through the classes, learning how this dysfunction had disrupted our family and affected our growth. We learned how to detach from one another's problems, not making them our own problems. We learned how even small changes in ourselves could make a huge change in the way we related and reacted to one another. We learned that forgiveness is the key to our past, present and future. Most of all, we learned how to have a personal relationship with the Lord, and how to put God first in our marriage.
In 2007, we were asked to pray about going into Family Recovery on the teaching side. We have been there ever since. We continue to learn and grow in ourselves and our marriage. With every lesson taught to the class, there is a lesson to be learned for us. Without fail, the Lord always shows up.
We have been heading up the class for almost 2 years now, and we are blessed by the many marriages we have seen come back together. Some of these couples are right where we were back in 2005; they are without hope. But, God is in the reconciliation business, and His presence in these classes builds hope, love and relationships. There is no doubt, when we follow His lead, families can and will recover. Praise God for the mighty work He does through these classes.
